Scottish Fed to embark on ‘Pay Update Roadshow’
The events will give officers the opportunity to receive in-person updates on the pay dispute.
The Scottish Police Federation are hitting the road and hosting 59 events across the country during the next few weeks and into September.
Each event will give officers an in-person session with SPF Exec members, informing them of the latest updates on the ongoing pay dispute.
They kickstarted in Glasgow today, with the sessions designed to last one hour.
Police Oracle understands that the Fed are open to taking questions during the event but that it would be time-dependent.
Scotland’s officers have already withdrawn “goodwill” in a protest against the 3.4 per cent pay rise they have most recently been offered.
The SPF said: “Police officers should not be in a position where government values police offers less than other sectors and workers. The unique role of the police officer should always be reflected in any pay offer. This revised offer, like it’s predecessor, fails to do so.”
Scottish Federation Chair David Hamilton told Police Oracle he believes the removal of goodwill has been “pretty successful” so far, as evidenced by the revised offer.
“It’s still not enough,” he added.
“Which is why we have got another deadline”.
Unless a further improved offer is received by this Friday, the Federation has warned that actions of members will escalate. At the moment, they are not giving any details as to what that might look like.
David Hamilton said: “[We're holding the sessions because] It’s important officers have a full understanding of the process and what’s happening. It’s also an opportunity for the executives to tell them how things stand.”
The events are open to SPF members and will require officers showing their Police ID.
