Chief Superintendent John Webster has been selected to attend the Policing Leadership Academy, where he will spend one week a month stateside as part of the course being run by the University of Chicago.
The District Commander for Stockport hopes to use this opportunity to "deliver a better service tomorrow than we do today".
“I’m really excited and feel incredibly fortunate to have been selected to be that advocate for the force and to represent Greater Manchester Police and also the United Kingdom.
“It’s a huge honour, and I can’t wait to galvanise that learning in the United States and then hopefully bring it back to GMP and the UK and share it," said Ch Supt Webster.
