MPs To Scrutinise Drugs Seizures

Home Affairs Committee members to quiz former chief constable-turned border force head over hauls of illegal substances

Brian Moore, Chief Executive of the UK Border Force and former chief constable of Wiltshire Police, is to appear before the Home Affairs Select Committee to discuss drugs seizures at the UK’s borders.

Mr Moore will also answer questions on September 18 relating to changes to staffing levels at the UK Border Force and alleged “inadequate” training.

In addition, MPs will also hear from UK Border Agency CEO Rob Whiteman.

Committee Chair Keith Vaz said: “The recent issues with the border force, including inadequate levels of training for employees, have called into question the quality and efficiency of our border checks.

“This session will give us the opportunity to hear what the heads of UKBA and the border force are doing to address the concerns within their organisations.”
