Labour reshuffles Shadow Policing Minister

Opposition change means new face for front bench policing team

Labour has confirmed a new Shadow Policing Minister after MP David Hanson was moved during the party’s reshuffle of its front bench.

Mr Hanson (pictured), who served as Minister of State for Security, Counter-Terrorism, Crime and Policing in the last Labour government, has been given the new brief of Shadow Immigration Minister.

His replacement as Shadow Policing Minister is Birmingham MP Jack Dromey. Though he has never held ministerial office relating to policing, Mr Dromey has been a vocal critic of cuts to West Midlands Police, which covers his constituency.

While Mr Hanson’s new post relates to the Home Office, his brief no longer has any relevance to policing.

Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper kept her job in the reshuffle.
