Oh goodness - that seems to have come through 4 times! 😧

Old Skool Kind of Guy (28/04/22 @ 11:24)

stark reality - very soon the vast majority of cops on the streets will have minimal experience - what is the solution to this? vast numbers of recruits on the streets is not reassuring...or perhaps I am old fashioned?

Anonanon (28/04/22 @ 11:54)

Nice plug for your firm Ellie Pyemont! But 4 times? :)

So what is the actual figure of the uplift based on the attrition figures both now and in the next year or so? One suspects they may reveal a different picture. Also interesting to note that some forces are now reverting to recruiting under the IPLDP (non graduate) scheme. I wonder why??

Oh well, Ellie, never mind it coming through four times, that’s a cracking way of getting the message across. As Managing Director of Enlighten Training & Consultancy Ltd., and with your skill in leadership development, as well as your interest in climate change and refugees, I feel sure that all this experience will reflect favourably with applicants queuing up to become police officers. Just a thought … will your package inform the applicants that they will have to work nights, weekends and Bank Holidays? Will they come to terms that when confronted with an out-of-control crack cocaine addict wielding a machete they might have to use force to subdue him? Mind you, when they patrol the streets – if they do – life won’t be as raw as that all the time. But if they’re called to deal with a sudden death, will the package suggest that that’s one of the unfortunate aspects of policing – and that they’ve got to crack on and deal with it? Most of all, will they be told that when they’re given a direct order by a senior officer, it’s a disciplinary offence not to comply with it? Never mind. When things go horribly wrong, it’s not going to be your problem, is it?

My shift have zero cops with over 3 years service. Not one....

Modules are all well and good, their purpose was always to save money, the cheapest way to deliver a lesson… My Hendon training Sgts were the real thing and they left all of us in no doubt what to expect and how to behave.

With an average wastage rate of 9% before they even qualify. Then when they have got the shiny degree, no student debt a cracking CV and are out of the door into a safer better paid job. Will the CoP and all the other cheerleaders for the degree only officer scheme admit that they got it wrong? Not in a month of Sundays.

None of this would have been necessary if that Clown of a Home Secretary May and her side kick Winsor hadn't cut the numbers by 22,500, and cut pay for those just joining. May has a lot to answer for, Cry baby May and her stupid ideas has caused serious problems for the police as well as cutting 39 billion from the total police budget. She also turned out to be the weakest PM this country ever had, I hope she never gets sent to the H of Lords, she doesn't deserve any honour.
