Affluent drug users could treat diversion schemes “like speeding courses”

The recent reports of Class A drug usage in the Palace of Westminster (described as widespread and extensive) makes interesting and frankly shocking reading. When our government and MP's are on the "Showbiz Sherbert" then you can bet they want every opportunity at diversions away from criminal justice sanctions!

This government has a strategy, I am surprised...

Whilst it’s not exactly surprising when you hear of some teenagers taking drugs, you’d think doctors, lawyers and MP’s would think through their actions a bit more, especially when some act so holier than thou about who they are

The only drugs strategy required is to turn it into a health issue for users, like Portugal. Why do the police need to focus on users? We need to target the supply chain, which would be naturally disrupted by health providing drugs. DVLA should revoke driving licences of repeat offenders. Too much time wasted focusing on who has or hasn’t attended for what amounts to bureaucratic detection. If problematic users can get class A for free from NHS how much impact upon demand of Shop theft, recording bdh and other acquisitive crime!

You would like to think so wouldn't you ? But when you consider the same kind of life destroying mess that the same group of people get themselves into with their efforts to become alcoholics, you realise that common sense has nothing to do with it.
