Durham claims to be first force to offer staff free sanitary products
Free sanitary products for female officers to me suggests an element of sexual discrimination. When I was a supervisor in the Met in 1995 and had suggested that it was inappropriate for a female motorcyclist, in the summer on a very hot day, not to wear a bra I was criticized. The equal opportunities department suggested that if all officers wore bras there would not be a problem .... but failed to provide 'official guidance.
Can we also provide free razors for the men. The amount that cannot shave before coming to work is unreal. Certainly wouldn't be happening on my team- unshaven officers looking like they have just rolled out of bed.
