Viewpoint: we aren’t just numbers
I’ve said this before……watch the movie ‘paths of glory’…..it tells you everything you need to know about police senior management.
You poor bastard. Shocking tale and I suspect not uncommon in these days of weak leadership where the top floor will move heaven and earth to protect themselves but throw the underlings under the nearest bus without a seconds thought.
Shocking story, the officer refers to the fact that criminal justice is an industry but there is also the miscarriage of justice industry who will persecute innocent officers come what may and with due regard to the true facts, whilst dreaming up ridiculous scenario's and allegations. NPCC run away from this lot for the reasons given in the article and the comments made, leaving the officer concerned with no support. I had five years of it.
I got angry just reading this! Huge sympathy to this decent officer. Unfortunately, the reality is that when it comes to domestic abuse, there are more false allegations than the media would have you believe - how do I know? I worked in that department and saw how manipulative some people can be, yet we would pander to them because of fear of upsetting activist groups and charities if we were honest, which is ironic considering the police are the ones who see reality, not activist groups who simply have an agenda based on their emotions. It also distracts police from dealing with genuine victims of domestic abuse, and people wonder why police are so cynical, it’s the nature of the job! It also goes to show how wrong those are who think ‘police protect their own’ really are. I can’t think of an organisation more willing to publicly throw their colleagues under the bus. Bearing in mind, from what I can see, this was all in house, no involvement of the IOPC, which would be fuel to the fire.
I have not read that whole article but as an officer going down the same rabbit hole it has driven me to the very edge of dispair.. Made effective homeless ptsd anxiety back no safeguarding from arresting force it's left me hollow at times and my being a victim was brushed aside.. I feel for this officer truelly

In contrast, I read the entire article. Written from the heart, and very disturbing. It identifies organisations that are more concerned at their own reputations and studiously ignore the truth. It appears from what have read that a police officer of great potential was destroyed, by half truths and ignorant assumptions. We had referred in my time to being part of the police family, due to the support we gave to colleagues in need. A very frightening account of what happens to mail officers being sacrificed on the altar of public appeasement. I wish the officer well and a better future life.
