In my experience, people in these types of situation, quite rightly, are extremely concerned for their loved ones, but obviously have no previous experience of such matters and cannot come to terms with what has happened. This frustration at dealing with an unforseen event often results in criticism of the police as a knee jerk reaction for they have no other way of dealing with their trauma. Despite the best efforts of the police, they will find something to hang blame on to help them cope. Sad, but true.
