It does not matter whether contracts with the police are long term or not. This fiasco-PLANNED OVER THE LONG TERM LETS NOT FORGET-shows G4S is rotten and inadequate to the core. They may be able to take over roles such as sweeping roads following accidents if they bother to turn up that is !! After that role I cannot think of anything they could do actually. Thankfully this Olympic debarcle has shown them up to be the appalling incompetents they are and may/herbert and winsor will never be able to use them again. As for the latter, 15% loss in share value.......joy of joys !!!!

Whichever way Nick Buckles tries to spin this - the Olympics and the G4s catatstrophic failure is a disgrace and exposes the reality of the involvement of this company. Buckles has been described as a man who 'got rich by paying peanuts' and this is the stark truth - on this occasion G4s can't get the staff because they are simply not willing to pay the right wages and staff have not signed up as they hoped. The police 'contracts' are different - here staff have no choice as they are transferred across and have temporary 'TUPE' protection - they are a captive workforce with no voice and nowhere to go. Watch G4s reduce the salaries, pensions and working conditions once the TUPE protection ends! The Olympic mess should get people asking the question - why? Why are we rushing to give up the parts of the service we have so carefully built on the basis of potential savings and the lure of G4s promising to meet some spurious KPIs?

There are no doubt many good hard working people in G4S. The problem seems to be incompetent leadership and that is far from unique in our country today. Throughout the higher levels of the public and commercial sectors there are too many self serving individuals more interested in how much they can make for themselves. Many are hugely overpaid and the most competent thing they do is scratch each others backs, and yes I do include the banks in this. Lions led by donkeys!

We now have G4s booking in prisoners to save money!!!! ...... Some are very competent but why do i get challenge by some oik who ha no idea whether i can book him in or not .. then one custody Sgt has to oversee two booking desk with potentially 30 prisoners. Saved money!!! at our expense it takes longer to book prisoners in the the Sgt to check it all so we are there upto 2 hours for a basic arrest ..What a joke!!!

Whenever G4S go into any business, the first thing they do is sack everyone, make them re-apply for their jobs, on a 25/35% reduction in salary. Thats how they make their money. Avon and Somerset received the same from Southwest One who were supposed to save the force 35 million over 10 years, at the moment after 4 years, they have not saved the force a penny. None of these private enterprise outfits doing anything for nothing so people will always dip out.

Finally the truth emerges about this unprofessional incompetent amateur outfit they are a pseudo police force with aspirations of grandeur we always thought police command were a joke but they actually show that compared to this shower they are largely up to the job hopefully the government will see that handing police functions to private operators will end in tears lincs you are doomed

Unfortunately the public don't care. We know the Government don't care. I don't know about Lincs being doomed. I think the country as a whole may be on the brink of disaster!
